Men's Basketball Falls in Double Overtime to Ashland

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team fell to Ashland on Saturday (Dec 13), 91-88, in double overtime. The Saints overall record falls to 5-3 and 1-2 in conference.

• Redshirt junior Colin McHale (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) drained a 3-point basket to get things started with 19:30 on the clock (3-0).
• With 15:00 to play in the first half, redshirt first year Daniel Allen (Hodgenville, Ky./Laurel County) made a 3-point shot to put the Saints within one (9-10).
• Redshirt sophomore Zion Crowe (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) drove to the rim for a layup with 11:40 left on the clock in the first half to make it a 11-14 game.
• Redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) made a layup with 5:36 left in the half to cut the lead to 19-26.
• Senior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) hit a 3-point shot for the Saints final basket of the half with 38 seconds remaining (30-35).
• The Saints would trail 38-30 going into the locker room at the half.
• Kai Simpson led the Saints in the first half with 10 points and two assists and had one rebound.
• Daniell Allen tallied four rebounds for a team high and had three points.
• The Saints were 40.6% (13-32) from the field, 22.2% (4-18) from the 3-point line, and 0% (0-1) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Colin McHale slammed in a dunk to start off the second half to make it a six point game with 19:47 on the clock (32-38).
• Kai Simpson knocked in two free throws with 14:38 to play to put the Saints within one (42-43).
• With 9:33 to play, Ryan Paris drained a 3-point basket to make it a 50-57 game.
• Colin McHale drove to the rim for a layup to tie things up 65-65 with 3:06 to play.
• Colin McHale made a jump shot for the final basket of the half to tie things at 70-70 with 16 seconds remaining to send the game into over time.
• Ryan Paris led the Saints in the second half with 14 points and had three rebounds.
• Colin McHale led the team with four rebounds and had eight points.
• Kai Simpson tallied four assists to lead the team and had six points.
• The Saints were 59.1% (13-22) from the field, 60% (6-10) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw line in the second half.

Overtime 1:

• Ryan Paris made a layup to start the scoring off in overtime to tie things up 72-72 with 4:12 to play.
• Senior Mitchell Rylee (Ft.Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints up one with 1:54 on the clock (78-77).
• Kai Simpson would make a layup to make it a 80-79 game for the Saints final basket of OT1 with 1:07 remaining.
• The game would remain tied at the end of OT1, 80-80.

Overtime 2:

• Ryan Paris banged in a 3-point shot for the Saints first basket of OT2 with 3:38 on the clock to put the Saints up 83-82.
• With 1:41 to play, Mitchell Rylee made a jumper to tie things up at 85-85.
• First year Colin McClure (Columbus, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) made a layup for the Saints final basket of the game with two seconds remaining (88-90).
• The Saints would fall 91-88 to the Eagles.
• Mitchell Rylee led the Saints with seven points and had two rebounds.
• Ryan Paris led with four rebounds and had five points.
• The Saints were 53.3% (8-15) from the field, 100% (1-1) from the 3-point line, and 50% (1-2) from the free throw line in overtime.

• Ryan Paris led the Saints with 22 points and eight rebounds.
• Kai Simpson recorded seven assists for a team high and had 18 points and three rebounds.
