Women's Basketball Defeats UIndy for Fifth Straight Win

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated UIndy on Monday evening (Nov 24), 70-52. The Saints overall record improves to 5-0.

• Senior Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) knocked in two free throws to start things off for the Saints with 8:58 on the clock to put the team on the board 2-0.
• Junior Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village) made a layup to make it a five point game with 6:06 remaining in the first quarter (10-5).
• Junior Izzy Rotert (Harrison, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) drove to the rim for a layup for the Saints final basket of the quarter with 27 left to play (13-11).
• The Saints would lead 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.
• Redshirt sophomore Rylee Leonard (Sardina, Ohio/Eastern Brown) drained a 3-point shot to start the scoring for the Saints in the second quarter with 8:29 on the clock (26-16).
• With 4:23 to play in the half, Morgan Hunt knocked in two free throws to extend the Saints lead to 34-22.
• Izzy Rotert made one free throw with 51 seconds to play in the half to make it a 39-24 game.
• The Saints would lead 39-27 at the half going into the locker room.
• Rylee Leonard led with 10 points and had one rebound.
• Izzy Rotert led the team with eight rebounds and had eight points.
• Rylee Turner followed with seven rebounds and six points and led the team with three assists.
• The Saints were 48.3% (14-29) from the field, 18.2% (2-11) from the 3-point line, and 69.2% (9-13) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Izzy Rotert made a layup to start off the second half with 9:18 on the clock to make it a 41-27 game.
• Rylee Leonard knocked in two free throws midway through the third quarter to put the Saints up 49-33.
• Junior Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) hit a jumper with 14 seconds left for the final basket of the quarter to give the Saints a 59-37 lead.
• Desiree Tandy made a layup with 9:35 on the clock in the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 61-37.
• Rylee Turner drove to the basket for a layup to give the Saints a 67-42 lead with 5:51 remaining in the game.
• First year Zene Thompson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) made her first collegiate basket with 2:31 to play in the game to make it a 69-48 game.
• The Saints defeated UIndy 70-52 to secure their fifth straight win.
• The Saints were 38.7% (7-16) from the field, 15.4% (2-13) from the 3-point line, and 71.4% (5-7) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Rylee Leonard led the team with 15 points and had three assists and two rebounds.
• Izzy Rotert also led with a team high double double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.
• Rylee Turner recorded 10 rebounds and four assists to lead the team and had eight points.
• Desiree Tandy had 11 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
• Sereniti Webb tallied seven rebounds, six points, and three assists.
• The Saints were 43.3% (26-60) from the field, 16.7% (4-24) from the 3-point line, and 70% (14-20) from the free throw line.

The Saints return next Thursday (Dec 4) at Findlay to open up conference play with a 5:30 pm ET tip.
