Women's Basketball Beats Charleston in a Road Win

(CHARLESTON, WV)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Charleston (WV) on Saturday afternoon (Nov 22), 68-54. The Saints overall record improves to 4-0.

• Junior Izzy Rotert (Harrison, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) started things off by driving to the basket for a layup to put the Saints on the board 2-0 with 9:50 on the clock.
• With 6:27 to play in the quarter, Sereniti Webb (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup to make it a 6-8 game.
• Izzy Rotert scored the final basket of the quarter to cut the lead to 18-21 at the end of the first quarter.
• Izzy Rotert laid in a layup to kick things off in the second quarter to make it a one point game with 8:52 to play in the half (20-21).
• Junior Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village) made a layup with 5:50 to play in the half to put the Saints up 26-21.
• Izzy Rotert made the final basket of the half with a layup to give the Saints a 39-26 lead at the half.
• Izzy Rotert led with 12 points adn had two rebounds and one assist in the first half.
• Junior Laney Baker (West Harrison, Ind./East Central) led the Saints with three assists.
• Junior Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern Brown), Morgan Hunt, Sereniti Webb, and senior Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) all led the three rebounds in the second half.
• The Saints were 41.7% (15-36) from the field, 22.2% (2-9) from the 3-point line, and 100% (7-7) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Izzy Rotert made a jump shot to start things off in the third quarter with 8:41 on the clock to make it a 41-26.
• Morgan Hunt knocked in a free throw to extend the Saints lead to 52-32 with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter.
• Izzy Rotert made a turn around shot with 51 seconds left in the quarter to make it a 58-34 game for the Saints last basket of the quarter.
• Junior Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) made two free throws for the Saints first points of the quarter with 8:54 on the clock (60-37).
• Sereniti Webb drove to the rim for a basket to put the Saints up 66-46 with 4:28 to play.
• First year Morgan Frey (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) knocked in one free throw with 1:42 remaining in the game for her first collegiate point and the Saints final point of the game (67-49).
• The Saints defeated Charleston 68-54 to remain undefeated.
• Izzy Rotert led with six points and had three rebounds in the second half.
• Morgan Hunt and Desiree Tandy both tallied six points to also lead the team.
• Sophomore Amara Jackson (Huntington, WV/Huntington) had four rebounds to lead the Saints defensively in the second half.
• The Saints were 41.7% (10-24) from the field, 25% (2-8) from the 3-point line, and 63.6% (7-11) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Izzy Rotert led the Saints with a career high 18 points and four steals and had five rebounds and one assist.
• Morgan Hunt followed 11 points and three rebounds.
• Amara Jackson led the team with six rebounds and had four points.
• Sereniti Webb tallied 10 points and three rebounds.
• The Saints were 41.7% (25-60) from the field, 23.5% (4-17) from the 3-point line, and 77.8% (14-18) from the free throw line.
