Daniel Allen Knocks Down Five Three Pointers in Road Victory Over UINDY

(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) - The Thomas More Men's Basketball team traveled to take on the UINDY Greyhounds on Saturday (November, 22nd) evening. The Saints defeated the Greyhounds by a final score of 83 to 78. Thomas More saw three Saints recorded double figures in the contest. The Saints are now 2-1 overall on the season.
First Half
  • Thomas More scored their first points of the game off a layup from redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglass) with 19:18 to go in the half.
  • With 18:01 left in the half, freshman Colin McClure (Columbus, OH / Dublin Coffman) found junior Carson Browne (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) for a three pointer to cut the UINDY lead down to 2.
  • A McClure jumper and a Kai Simpson three pointer tied the game up at 10 with 16:21 left in the opening half.
  • Carson Browne would give Thomas More a one point lead with his second three pointer of the game with 14:27 left.
  • With 13:35 on the clock, sophomore Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, KY / Cooper) made a layup off a Simpson assist to make it a 16 to 15 lead for the Saints.
  • Redshirt freshman Daniel Allen (Hodgenville, KY / Larue County) tied the game back up with 11:58 to go in the half with a three pointer off an assist from redshirt freshman Carter Mallernee (Johnstown, OH / Northridge).
  • Jashaun Pouncy caps off the quick seven point run for the Saints with a layup and a dunk on back to back possessions. (23-19)
  • After a couple of possessions with free throws, redshirt sophomore Jack McCune (Paducah, KY / McCracken County) makes a three pointer off a Pouncy assist to put the Saints in front by a ten. (31-21)
  • Three buckets from Kai Simpson and a three pointer from Daniel Allen, extends the Thomas More lead to 17 with 3:08 left in the half.
  • Daniel Allen makes another three pointer at the buzzer as Thomas More takes a 50 to 35 lead into halftime.
  • Kai Simpson led the Saints with 17 first half points on 6-13 shooting. He also tallied 4 assists and a steal.
  • Daniel Allen and Jashaun Pouncy each recorded 9 points in the first half.
  • Thomas More shot 19-33 (57.6%) from the field, 7-12 (58.3%) from three and 5-8 (62.5%) from the free throw line.
Second Half
  • Daniel Allen continued where he left off in the first half, with a three pointer with 19:48 to go in the game. (53-35)
  • Daniel Allen would hit another three pointer with 18:58 to go to keep the Saints lead at 18.
  • Senior Mitchell Rylee (Fort Mitchell, KY / Covington Catholic / Miami) ended a UINDY scoring run with a layup with 16:49 left in the game to make the score 58 to 45.
  • With 10:31 to go, after cutting the Saint lead down to 4, Mitchell Rylee answers with a layup to make it a 6 point game.
  • Mitchell Rylee continued a strong second half, with a layup with 7:30 to go in the game and making the score 65 to 59.
  • Mitchell Rylee would go on to score 12 straight points for the Saints, including a couple buckets as Thomas More takes a 75 to 69 lead with 4:16 to go in the game.
  • With 59 seconds to go, Daniel Allen makes a layup to put the Saints up by 4.
  • With 47 seconds left, Kai Simpson found Daniel Allen for a dunk to make it 81 to 76.
  • Thomas More goes on to win the game by a final score of 83 to 78.
  • Thomas More shot 28-53 (52.8%) from the field, 9-19 (47.4%) from three, and 18-27 (66.7%) from the free throw line for the game.
