Six Saints Finish in Double Figures as Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener

Box Score (CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY) - The Thomas More Men's Basketball team defated the UC-Clermont Cougars at home on Sunday (November, 30th) by a final score of 98 to 74. Thomas More improves to 3-1 overall on the season.

• Senior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, KY / Covington Catholic) got the scoring started with a first possession layup off an assist from redshirt sophomore Kai Simpson (Lexington, KY / Frederick Douglass).
• Redshirt freshman Daniel Allen (Hodgenville, KY / Larue County) knocked down the team first three pointer off an assist from junior Carson Browne (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) to make it a 5 to 2 lead for the Saints.
• With 14:37 left in the half, Kai Simpson makes a jumper, and Carson Browne knocks down a triple to put the Saints in front 16 to 9.
• Mitchell Rylee ends a a UCC scoring run with a layup off a pass from Kai Simpson to give the Saints a two point lead with 12:32 left in the opening half.
• Daniel Allen hits two more three pointers over the next two minutes to keep the Saints in front 24 to 22.
• With 9:48 left, Carson Browne knocks down another three pointer off a Kai Simpson assist to make it a 5 point Saint lead.
• Redshirt freshman Carter Mallernee (Johnstown, OH / Northridge) hits a three pointer, then sophomore Jashaun Pouncy (Erlanger, KY / Cooper) scores a bucket to push the Saint lead to 8 with 7:36 left in the half.
• With 6:06 left, senior Ryan Paris (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Davidson) hits a three pointer to make it a 35 to 26 game.
• Kai Simpson caps off a quick seven point run for the Saints to put them in front by 14 with 3:06 left in the half.
• Mitchell Rylee scores two buckets down the stretch and Thomas More takes a halftime lead of 52 to 36.
• Carson Browne, Mitchell Rylee and Daniel Allen led the scoring for the Saints in the first half with 9 points each.
• Kai Simpson recorded a team high 6 assists in the half, along with 8 points and a team high 5 rebounds.
• Eight different Saints scored in the half.
• Thomas More shot 21-34 (61.8%) from the field, 9-17 (52.9%) from three, and 1-2 (50%) from the free throw line in the half.

• Carson Brown and Kai Simpson knock down back to back three pointers, and Thomas More sprints out to a 21 point lead early in the second half.

• Freshman Colin McClure (Columbus, OH / Dublin Coffman) drains a three pointer with 13:51 left to make it a 21 point game.

• Daniel Allen led all Saints with 17 points in the contest. He also tallied 3 rebounds.
• Kai Simpson tied for the team high in rebounds with 7, he also added 13 points and a team high 7 assists.
• Carson Browne finished with 15 points on 5 made three pointers, along with 6 rebounds.
• Mitchell Rylee, Ryan Paris, and Jashaun Pouncy all finished in double figures.
