Football Takes Down KWC to Retain the Bourbon Barrel

(Owensboro, KY) – The Saints football team closed out their season on Saturday (Nov. 11th) with a road match up against Kentucky Wesleyan College. Thomas More finished strong, securing a 14–11 victory to retain the Bourbon Barrel trophy. The Saints conclude the season with an overall record of 1–10 and a 1–8 mark in conference play.

  • Kentucky Wesleyan strikes first with a 30-yard field goal, taking a 3–0 lead.
  • The Saints get on the board after a defensive stand results in a safety, cutting the deficit to 3–2.

  • Sophomore Martavious Smith (Bardstown, / KY Bethlehem) powers up the middle for a 7-yard touchdown, giving Thomas More its first lead of the night at 8–3.
  • Kentucky Wesleyan answers quickly, connecting on a 36-yard touchdown and converting the two-point attempt to go back in front, 11–8.
  • Senior Luke Iden (Taylor Mill, KY/ Scott High School) ties up the game with a good 37-yard field goal attempt, 11-11.
  • With another field goal attempt from Luke Iden, the Saints take a 14 to 11 lead and hold on to win.

  • Anthony Grossnickle (Massillon, OH/ Northwest /Tiffin) recorded a team-high 77 receiving yards.
  • Martavious Smith paced the Saints on the ground with 52 rushing yards and punched in one touchdown.
