Football Stumbles to Ashland on the Road

(Ashland, OH) – The Thomas More Saints Football team played the Ashland University Eagles on Saturday (October 11th) and walked away with a loss, with a final score of 38-14. The Saints' record moves to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play. 


 

• Ashland takes the lead in the first quarter with a touchdown, making the score 7-0 with the PAT 
• The Eagles increase their lead with another touchdown, moving the score to 14-0 after PAT. 
• With a good field goal attempt, Ashland adds to the scoreboard 17- 0. 

 

• With a strong start to the second quarter, the Eagles score another touchdown. Their lead increasing by 7 points, 24-0. 
• Ashland responds again with a touchdown, making it 31-0 with a PAT. 

 

• Starting off the second half hot, Ashland scores an 8-yard touchdown. The score is 38-0. 
• Freshman Ben Chesser (Northfield, OH/ Nordonia) completes a pass to Redshirt Freshman Demetrick Welch Jr. (Newport, KY/ Newport Central Catholic) for a 19-yard pass for a touchdown. The PAT makes it 38 to 7. 

 

• The Saints are adding to the scoreboard with another touchdown by redshirt sophomore Javion Bostic (Cincinnati, OH/ Winton Woods/ University of Toledo), moving the Saints to 38-14. 

• Sophomore Tofa Luani (Milford, OH/ Milford) led the team on defense, having 3 solo, 4 assists, and 7 total tackles.  
• Ben Chesser passed 12 for 24 for 74 yards with two touchdown passes during this contest.  
• Both Demetrick Welch Jr. and Javion Bostic recorded one touchdown.  

 

The Saints will return and host Tiffin University on Saturday (October 18th) at 1:00 P.M.
