Men's Basketball Hands #5 Findlay First Conference Loss

(FINDLAY, Ohio)-Thomas More University's men's basketball team defeated #5 Findlay on Thursday evening (January 23), 75-3. The Saints overall record improves to 11-7 and 6-5 in conference.

• Redshirt first year Jack McCune (Paducah, Ky./McCracken County) drained a 3-point basket to start the game off for the Saints with 19:27 to give them a 3-0 lead.
• With 14:04 to play, redshirt first year Kai Simpson (Lexington, Ky./Frederick Douglass) made a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 13-6.
• Junior Mitchell Rylee (Ft. Mitchell, Ky./Covington Catholic) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints up by 10 with 11:55 to play in the half (21-11).
• Senior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) banged in a 3-point basket with 5:10 on the clock to make it a 26-23 game.
• Mitchell Rylee laid in a layup for the final basket of the first half with 22 second left to put the Saints up 33-28 going into the locker room at the half.
• Kai Simpson led the Saints with 12 points and two assists and had two rebounds in the first half.
• Senior Casey George (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington North) recorded six rebounds to lead the team and had five points.
• Jack McCune and first year Tyler Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) also recorded two assists to lead the team.
• The Saints were 36.4% (12-33) from the field, 42.1% (8-19) from the 3-point line, and 50% (1-2) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kai Simpson opened up the second half with a layup with 19:43 on the clock to extend the Saints lead to 35-28.
• Casey George hit a jump shot to make it a 43-37 game with 15:38 remaining.
• With 12:43 remaining in the game, sophomore Carson Brown (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) made a layup to put the Saints up 50-44.
• With 9:11 remaining, Jack McCune drained a 3-point shot to give the Saints a 58-50 lead.
• Wyatt Vieth made a layup with 4:15 on the clock to put the Saints up 69-65.
• Mitchell Rylee laid in a layup for the Saints final basket of the game with 27 seconds remaining (75-71).
• The Saints defeated the Oilers 75-72.
• Jack McCune led with 10 points in the second half.
• Kai Simpson recorded two assists to lead the second half and had eight points and three rebounds.
• Mitchell Rylee tallied two assists to lead the team and had eight points and one rebound.
• Wyatt Vieth had eight points and three rebounds.
• Casey George lead the team with four rebounds had four points.
• The Saints were 61.5% (16-26) from the field, 40% (4-10) from the 3-point line, and 60% (6-10) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Kai Simpson led with 20 points and four assists and had six rebounds and one block.
• Wyatt Vieth followed with 14 points and three rebounds.
• Casey George recorded a team high of 10 rebounds and had nine points.
• Jack McCune tallied 13 points, one rebounds, and two assists.
• The Saints were 47.5% (28-59) from the field, 41.4% (12-29) from the 3-point line, and 58.3% (7-12) from the free throw line.

The Saints return to the Connor Convocation Center on Saturday (January 25) at 3:00 pm ET against Northwood.
