(OWENSBORO, KY) - The Thomas More baseball team fell in both game of a doubleheader to Kentucky Wesleyan on Friday (April, 5th). Saints dropped the first game by a score of 6 to 0, and came up short in game two by a score of 4 to 3. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 10-20 and 3-13 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Game 1: Kentucky Wesleyan 6-0
- KWC took the early lead with 2 runs in the first inning.
- KWC added another run in the 2nd and one more in the 4th to make it 4 to 0.
- KWC scored 2 more runs in the 5th inning to make it 6 to 0.
Game 2: Kentucky Wesleyan 4-3 (7 innings)
- KWC put two runs across in the opening inning to make it a 2 to 0 game.
- In the third inning, senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, KY / Cooper) hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a Saint run, making it 2 to 1.
- KWC pushed two more across in the 4th to extend their lead to 4 to 1.
- In the 5th inning, senior Brady Baldock (Burlington, KY / St. Henry) hit an RBI single to cut the KWC lead to two.
- In the top of the 7th, first year Matt Resing (Independence, KY / St. Henry) hits an RBI single to make it a one run game.
Game 1:
- First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, IN / East Central) went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double to lead the Saints.
- Gavin Pearson went 1 for 4 at the plate.
- Junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) went 1 for 4 at the plate.
Game 2:
- Sam Bond went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double, and run scored.
- Ben Duncan 1 for 3 with a run scored and a double.
- Brady Baldock went 2 for 4 at the plate in the game.
- Junior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, OH / Badin) went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored.
Game 1:
- Sophomore Jack Perdue (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) got the start for the Saints. He pitched 7.0 innings, allowing 15 hits and 5 earned runs.
- Sophomore Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) came in and pitched 1.0 innings, and struck out 2.
Game 2:
- First year Jacob Murphy (Greenwood, IN / Center Grove) got the start and pitched 5.0 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 1 strike out.
- Senior Zach Dugan (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) pitched 1.0 innings and did not allow a run.
