Saints Sweep Sunday Doubleheader Against Lake Erie, Split Series

(FLORENCE, KY)-Thomas More University's baseball team took both games of the Sunday (April, 21st) doubleheader against Lake Erie. The Saints won game one by a score of 10-8 and took game two by a score of 10 to 0. Thomas More improves to an overall record of 13-30 on the season and 6-22 in G-MAC play.

Game 1: Thomas More 10-8 (7-innings)
  • Senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, KY / Cooper) put the Saints on the scoreboard with an RBI single to put the Saints in front.
  • Senior Brady Baldock (Burlington, KY / St. Henry) followed with an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game.
  • Graduate student Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) continued the big inning with a 3 RBI double to make it a 5 to 0 game.
  • First year Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) capped off the first inning with a 2 RBI single to make it a 7 spot for the Saints.
  • Lake Erie plated 3 runs in the second to make it a 7 to 3 game.

  • First year Drew Edrich (Cleves, OH / Elder) hit a solo home run, the first of his career, to make it a 3-0 game in the 2nd.
  • In the 4th inning, junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) hit an RBI single to bring home the 4th Saint run of the game.
  • Junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) gut a 2 RBI single in the 5th to make it a 6 to 0 game.
  • Drew Edrich hit a 2 RBI double to make the score 8 to 0 after five innings.
  • Edrich hit his second double of the game in the 7th to bring home another Saint, making it 9 to 0.
  • Gavin Pearson walked to bring home the game ending run in the 7th.

  • First year Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) pitched 4.1 innings of no run baseball. He struck out 7 batters and picked up the win.
  • First year Nolan Krekeler (Loveland, Ohio/Moeller) pitched 2.2 innings, allowing no runs off two hits and struck out one.
