Softball Sweeps Ursuline in Conference Series;Eagan Secures 400th Win

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)-Thomas More University's softball team swept Ursuline on Saturday afternoon (April 13), 7-0 in game one and 10-1 (6-innings) in game two for Head Coach Lindsay Eagan's 400th win. The Saints overall record improves to 9-27 and 4-12 in conference.

How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 7-0
  • In the bottom of the first inning, senior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) singled to left field to score first year transfer Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) to put the Saints on the board 1-0.
  • Sophomore Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) hit her first career double up the middle in the bottom of the second inning to send in first year Maeve Fink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to make it a 2-0 game. Graduate student Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) singled through the right side to send in Ashtyn Elbe top extend the lead to 3-0.
  • Hailey McAdoo singled up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to score first year Adi Johnson (Ross, Ohio/Ross) to put the Saints up 4-0.
  • In the bottom of the sixth inning, Ashtyn Elbe singled through the right side to score graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) (5-0). Hailey McAdoo would ground out but would score Ashtyn Elbe to make it a 6-0 game. First year Shelby Hill (Liberty, Ind./Union County) doubled to right center to send in Adi Johnson to score the Saints final run (8-0).
Game 2: Thomas More 10-1 (6-innings)
  • Ursuline scored one run in the top of the first inning (1-0).
  • In the bottom of the first inning, Delaney Kemper singled up the middle to send home Hailey McAdoo to tie the game at 1-1.
  • Hailey McAdoo was walked home in the bottom of the third inning to put the Saints up 2-1. Anna Greenwell would then score on a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 game.
  • In the bottom of the fourth inning, Adi Johnson scored off a stolen base to second by Anna Greenwell to extend the Saints lead to 4-1. Senior Kai Dickerson (Walton, Ky./Ryle) doubled to right field to send home Anna Greenwell (5-1).
  • Hailey McAdoo singled up the middle to score Ashtyn Elbe to put the Saints up 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Adi Johsnon would score on a wild pitch to make it a 7-1 game. Delaney Kemper hit a 3-run home over the left field fence to end the game in the sixth inning (10-1).

Game 1:
  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing no runs off two hits and struck out eight.
Game 2:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing one earned run off three hits and struck out four.
