(ASHLAND, OH) - The Thomas More baseball team fell in both game of a doubleheader to Ashland on Saturday (April, 13th). Saints dropped the first game by a score of 11 to 4, and lost game 2 by a score of 19 to 1. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 10-25 and a G-MAC record of 3-17.
Game 1: Ashland 11-4
- Ashland scored four runs in the opening inning to take the early lead.
- Ashland added another run in the 2nd to make it 5-0.
- In the top of the 5th inning, junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) hit a 2 RBI double to make it 5 to 2.
- Senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, KY / Cooper) then brought Vogelgesang in with an RBI double to make it 5 to 3.
- Ashland added 5 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to stretch their lead to 10 to 3.
- Ashland added another run in the 6th to make it 11 to 3.
- Person hit a sacrifice fly in the 9th to bring home a Saint to make it 11 to 4.
Game 2: Ashland 19-1
- Gavin Pearson got the Saints started with a home run in the top of the first to take a 1 to 0 lead.
- Ashland would answer with a 2 run homer in the first. (2-1)
- Ashland added two more runs in the second on another home run to make it 4 to 1.
- Ashland added 3 more runs in the 4th inning.
- Ashland made it 15 to 1 following an 8 run 5th.
- Ashland added 4 more runs in the 6th to make it 19 to 1.
Game 1:
- Gavin Vogelgesang went 2 for 5 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs.
- Gavin Pearson went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and 2 RBIs.
- First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, IN / East Central) went 2-3 with 2 walks and a double.
Game 2:
- Gavin Pearson went 1 for 4 from the plate with a home run.
- Sam Bond went 1 for 2 at the dish with a walk.
- Ben Duncan went 1 for 3 at the plate with a walk.
Game 1:
- Junior Jackson Grimmelsman (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) pitched 4.1 innings for the Saints. He allowed 10 earned runs on 14 hits and struck out 5.
- Junior George Donohoe (Villa Hills, KY / Immaculate Conception) pitched 2.0 innings. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 1.
- Sophomore Jack Rutz (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) pitched 1.2 innings. He did not allow a run, and gave up 2 hits.
Game 2:
- Sophomore Jack Perdue (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) got the start and pitched 4.0 innings. He allowed 7 runs on 9 hits and struck out 1.
- First year Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) pitched 1.0 innings. He allowed 7 runs on 7 hits and struck out 1.
- Junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) pitched 1.0 innings. He allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits and struck out 1.

The Saints return tomorrow to finish the series with #8 Ashland. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 10:00 AM.
