(ASHLAND, OH) - The Thomas More baseball team fell in both game of a doubleheader to Ashland on Sunday (April, 14th). Saints dropped the first game by a score of 13 to 5, and lost game 2 by a score of 11 to 6. Thomas More falls to an overall record of 10-27 and a G-MAC record of 3-19.
Game 1: Ashland 13-5
- In the top of the 2nd inning, first year Noah McCarty (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) and junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) both hit RBI singles to give the Saints a 2 to 0 lead.
- Ashland scores four runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 4 to 2 lead.
- Senior Brady Baldock (Burlington, KY / St. Henry) hits a 3 run home run in the 3rd to give the Saints back the lead at 5 to 4.
- Ashland scores 5 runs in the 4th to retake a 9 to 5 lead.
- Ashland adds 3 runs in the 5th and a run in the 6th.
Game 2: Ashland 11-6
- In the top of the 2nd inning, junior Derek Marinucci (Canton, MI / Divine Child) gave the Saints a lead with a two run homer.
- Ashland took the lead in the 3rd with three runs.
- In the 4th inning, first year Matt Resing (Independence, KY / St. Henry) and Vogelgesang each hit RBI singles to retake a 4 to 3 lead for the Saints.
- In the bottom of the 4th, Ashland took back the lead with a 5 run inning.
- Marinucci hit a 2 RBI double in the top of the 5th to make it an 8 to 6 game.
- Ashland added 3 more runs in the bottom of the 5th to make it 11 to 6.

- Derek Marinucci went 2-3 at the plate with 4 RBIs, a double and a home run.
- Gavin Vogelgesang went 2-4 with an RBI and a walk.
- Sophomore Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) went 2 for 4 with a double on the day.
- Junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) went 2 for 5 at the plate.
Game 1:
- First year Jacob Murphy (Greenwood, IN / Center Grove) pitched 3.1 innings. He allowed 8 runs on 8 hits in the game.
- Senior Zach Dugan (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) pitched 2.2 innings. He allowed 5 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2.
Game 2:
- First year Nolan Krekeler (Loveland, OH / Moeller) pitched 3.0 innings. He allowed 6 runs on 4 hits.
- Sophomore Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) pitched 5.0 innings. He allowed 5 runs on 5 hits with 2 strikeouts.

The Saints return on Tuesday (April, 16th) when they travel to face Cedarville in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
