Saints Split Thursday at Spring Games

(KISSIMMEE, FL)-Thomas More University's softball team split day four of their spring games in Florida. They defeated Seton Hill by score 8 to 4 before falling to St. Cloud State 8 to 3. The Saints overall record is now 4-14.

How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 8-4
  • Seton Hill took an early lead with a three run homer in the opening frame.
  • Junior Emily Allphin (New Richmond, OH / Milford) put the Saints on the scoreboard with an RBI single in the first (1-3).
  • Sophomore Sophia Thoma (Cleves, OH / Taylor) hit a 2 RBI double and came around to score on an error to cap off a four run inning for the Saints (4-3).
  • Seton Hill would score again to tie the game up in the second.
  • In the bottom of the second, Allphin hits her second RBI single of the game to take back the lead (5-4).
  • In the third inning graduate student Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) walked to bring home another TMU run.
  • Also in the third, graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) comes home to score on an error to make it 7 to 4.
  • In the 5th inning, first year Anna Greenwell (Fort Thomas, KY / Highlands) reached on a fielders choice and got an RBI to make it 8 to 4.
Game 2: St. Cloud State 8-3
  • Thomas More broke a scoreless tie in the 4th inning, when Anna Greenwell hit a RBI single (1-0).
  • Emily Allphin added to the frame with a 2 RBI single to make it 3 to 0.
  • St. Cloud State would take the lead after a four run 4th.
  • St. Cloud State would add 4 more in the 6th inning.

Game 1:
  • Emily Allphin goes 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBIs.
  • Sophia Thoma recorded 2 RBIs and a double as she went 1-4.
  • First year Adi Johnson (Ross, OH / Ross) went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Game 2:
Game 1:
  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, OH / Eaton) pitched the entire seven innings for the Saints. She allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits and struck out four. She picked up the win.
Game 2:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, OH / Kenton Ridge) got the start and went 5.2 innings and gave up 8 runs on 11 hits and struck out 2.
  • First year Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 0.1 innings and struck out 1.
