Softball Close Spring Games with a Friday Split

(KISSIMMEE, FL)-Thomas More University's softball team split day their final day of the Spring Games. The Saints defeated Concord by a score of 7 to 6 before falling to Concordia in game two by a score of 4 to 1. Thomas More is now an overall record of 5-15 on the season.

Game 1: Thomas More 7-6
  • Concord took an early 2-0 lead with runs in the first inning.
  • First year Adi Johnson (Ross, OH / Ross) hits a sacrifice fly in the 3rd inning to bring home a Saint run (1-2).
  • Concord adds four more runs in the 4th to extend their lead to 6 to 1.
  • Senior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, KY / Williamstown) hits a 2 RBI double in the 4th to cut the Concord lead down to 3.
  • Graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) hits an RBI single to make it a 6 to 4 game after four.
  • Sophomore Sophia Thoma (Cleves, OH / Taylor) hits a 2 RBI single in the 5th to tie the game for the Saints.
  • In the fifth inning, first year Maeve Fink (Cincinnati, OH / Oak Hills) hits the go ahead RBI single to make it 7 to 6.
Game 2: Concordia 4-1
  • Concordia St. Paul scores 2 runs in the 2nd inning to take the early lead.
  • First year Paige Stewart (Cold Spring, KY / Campbell County) hits an RBI single to put the Saints on the scoreboard in the 4th inning.
  • CSP pushes two more runs across in the 4th inning.

  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, OH / Eaton) pitched the entire seven innings for the Saints. She allowed 6 earned runs on 8 hits and struck out seven. She picked up the win.
Game 2:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, OH / Kenton Ridge) got the start and went 5 innings and gave up 1 earned run on 9 hits and struck out 2.
  • First year Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, OH / Westfall) pitched 1 inning and allowed one hit.

The Saints return to action when they open up G-MAC play next Saturday (March, 16th) at Cedarville. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
