Baseball Falls to Northwood in Florida

(AUBURNDALE, FL)-Thomas More University's baseball team fell to Northwood on Thursday (March 7) in a non-conference game in Florida, 14-2 in 7-innings. The Saints overall record falls to 7-5.

• Northwood scored two runs in the bottom of the first (0-2).
• Junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) double to center field to score sophomore Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) in the top of the third to put the Saints on the board (1-2). Gavin Vogelgesang would score on an error by the short stop to tie things up at 2-2.
• Northwood would score three runs in the bottom of the third, three runs in the bottom of the fourth, one run in the bottom of the fifth, and five runs in the bottom of the sixth (2-14).

• Gavin Vogelgesang went 2-3 at the plate with one RBI and scored one run.

• Sophomore Tony Spangler (Springboro, Ohio/Springboro) pitched 3 innings, allowing six runs with five earned off six hits.
• First year Nolan Krekeler (Loveland, Ohio/Moeller) pitched 2 innings, allowing three earned runs off three hits and struck out one.
• Sophomore transfer Jack Rutz (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) pitched 0.0 innings, allowing four earned runs off two hits.
• Junior George Donohoe (Villa Hills, Ky./Immaculate Conception) pitched 1.0 innings, allowing no runs off one hit and struck out two.

The Saints return tomorrow for their final game in Florida against Wayne State at 9:00 a.m. ET.
