Baseball Falls to Wayne State College in Florida Finale

(AUBURNDALE, FL)-Thomas More University's baseball team fell to Wayne State College on Friday morning (March 8) in their finale in Florida, 6-5. The Saints overall record falls to 7-6.

• In the top of the third inning, senior Brady Baldock (Burlington, Ky./St. Henry) doubled to center field to score graduate student Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner) and sophomore Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) (2-0). Sophomore Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) would double to left field to send in Brady Baldock to extend the Saints lead to 4-0.
• Wayne State would score four runs in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 4-4.
• First year Sam Bond (St.Leon, Ind./East Central) singled to left field in the top of the fifth inning to score junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) to give the Saints the lead (5-4).
• Wayne State scored one run in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the bottom of the seventh (5-6).

• Ben Duncan went 2-4 with one double and two RBIs.
• Brady Baldock went 1-3 with one double, two RBIs, and scored one run.

• Sophomore Kellen Sandhas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched. 3.1 innings, allowing four earned runs off three hits and struck out one.
• Junior Jackson Grimmelsmann (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one earned run off four hits and struck out one. 
• Junior Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing one earned run off four hits and struck out one.

The Saints return to action on Tuesday (March 12) at 3:00 pm ET against UC Clermont at Thomas More Stadium.
