Softball Splits Day Three in Florida

(KISSIMMEE, FL)-Thomas More University's softball team split day three of their spring games in Florida. They fell 8-1 to Upper Iowa and won 3-0 over Minnesota-Crookston. The Saints overall record is now 4-13.

How they scored
Game 1: Upper Iowa 8-1
  • In the top of the first inning, graduate student Becca Mowen (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) singled to second to send in junior Josie Wefer (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) to put the Saints on the board 1-0.
  • Upper Iowa scored eight runs in the fifth inning (1-8).
Game 2: Thomas More 3-0
  • Josie Wefer doubled to left field to score graduate student Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) in the bottom of the first inning (1-0). Junior transfer Emily Allphin (New Richmond, Ohio/Milford) hit a sac fly to left to send in Josie Wefer (2-0).
  • First year Maeve Fink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) reached on error which scored sophomore Sophia Thomas (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 3-0 game. 

Game 1:
  • Becca Mowen went 1-1 at the plate with one RBI.
  • First year Paige Steward (Cold Srings, Ky./Campbell County) was 1-1.
Game 2:
Game 1:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing five earned runs off eight hits and struck out one.
  • First year Alayna Crouch (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) pitched 0.0 innings, allowing two earned runs off no hits.
  • First year Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, Ohio/Westfall) pitched 1.2 innings, allowing one unearned run off one hits and struck out two.
Game 2:
  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing no earned runs off four hits and struck out six.
