Jack Perdue Pitches Complete Game as Saints Down Davis & Elkins

(AUBURNDALE, FL)- Thomas More's baseball team took down Davis & Elkins on Tuesday (March, 5th) morning by a score of 13 to 0 in their third game of the RussMatt Tournament in Florida. Sophomore Jack Perdue (Louisville, KY / Christian Academy) tossed a complete game (7 innings) of shutout baseball for the Saints. Thomas More moves to an overall record of 6-4 on the season.

How they scored
  • First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, IN / East Central) got the Saints started with a three run homer in the first inning. (3-0)
  • In the fourth inning, graduate student Derek Atwood (Burlington, KY / Conner) hits an RBI single to spark the beginning of a big inning.
  • After junior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, OH / Badin) reached on an RBI fielders choice, junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) walked to bring home another run. (5-0)
  • Thomas More scored two more runs off sacrifice flies from junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, OH / Hilliard Bradley) and senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, KY / Cooper) (9-0).
  • Sophomores Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) and Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, OH / Elder) capped off the inning with RBI singles to make it 10-0.
  • In the 5th inning Vogelgesang adds another run with an RBI single and another run comes in to score off a double play. (12-0)
  • Ben Duncan hits an RBI single in the 6th to add to the Saints lead.

  • Gavin Vogelgesang went 3-4 at the plate which included an 2 RBIs and a walk.
  • Sam Bond increased his hit streak to 5 straight games as he went 1-2 with a homer and 3 RBIs.
  • Gunner Kalkhoff went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI.

  • Jack Perdue tossed a complete game of 7 innings. He did not allow a run and gave up 5 hits along with 7 strikeouts.
