Tiffin Sweeps Softball in Series

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)-Thomas More University's softball team falls to Tiffin on Saturday afternoon (March 30) 9-1 in game one (5 innings) and 11-9 in game two. The Saints overall record falls to 6-24 and 1-9 in conference.

How they scored
Game 1: Tiffin 9-1 (5 innings)
  • Tiffin scored three runs in the top of the first, five runs in the top of the third, and one run in the top of the ninth (0-9).
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, sophomore Sophia Thoma (Cleves, Ohio/Taylor) reached base by a dropped ball by the center field which scored first year Maeve Fink (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) (1-9).
Game 2: Tiffin 11-8
  • In the bottom of the first inning, senior Delaney Kemper (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) doubled to left center to score junior Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) and graduate student Becca Mowen (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) (2-0). Senior Kai Dickerson (Walton, Ky.Ryle) stepped up to the plate and hit a three run home run over the right field fence to send in Sophia Thoma and Delaney Kemper and extend the lead to 5-0. Graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) tripled to the right center fence to score Maeve Fink (6-0).
  • Tiffin scored three runs in the top of the second inning.
  • Delaney Kemper would double again in the bottom of the second inning to center field to send in first year Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) (7-3). Sophia Thoma singled to right field to score senior Sarah Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) to make it a 8-3 game.
  • Tiffin scored two runs in the top of the third inning and five runs in the top of the fourth inning and one run in the top of the sixth inning (8-11).
  • Delaney Kemper hit a infield single in the bottom of the sixth inning to score graduate student Hailey McAdoo (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints within two (9-11).

  • Delaney Kemper went 4-4 with three doubles four RBIs and scored one run.
  • Sophia Thoma was 2-4 with one double one RBI and scored one run.
  • Kai Dickerson was 1-4 at the plate with one home run three RBIs and scored one run.

  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 2.1 innings, allowing seven runs with four earned off nine hits and struck out two.
  • First year Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, Ohio/Westfall) pitched 2.2 innings, allowing one run off one hit and struck out two.
Game 2:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing five earned runs of eight hits and struck out one.
  • Annika Gels pitched 4.0 innings, allowing five runs with four earned off five hits and struck out five.
