Softball Splits Opening Home Series Against Findlay

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)-Thomas More University's softball team split their opening home series on Friday afternoon (March 29). The Saints took game one (6-3) for their first conference win and fell 10-0 in 5-innings in game two. The Saints overall record 6-22 and 1-7 in conference.

How they scored
Game 1: Thomas More 6-3
  • Findlay scored one run in the top of the first (0-1).
  • In the bottom of the second inning, senior Delaney Kemper (Williamston, Ohio/Williamstown) hit a SAC fly to left field to score junior Emma Kent (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) to tie the game up at 1-1.
  • Findlay scored two runs in the top of the third (1-3).
  • Graduate student Becca Mowen (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) singled through the left side to score sophomore Ashtyn Elbe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) to put the Saints within one (2-3). Graduate student Sydney Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio /Oak Hills) hit a 3-run triple past the left fielder to the fence to send in Delaney Kemper, first year Kirsten Wright (Springfield, Ohio/Kenton Ridge), and senior Sarah Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) to give the Saints the lead (5-3).
  • In the bottom of the sixth, first year transfer Anna Greenwell (Ft. Thomas, Ky./Highlands) scored off a throwing error from a hit ball by Delaney Kemper to left field (6-3).
Game 2:
  • Findlay scored six runs in the top of the first inning, two runs in the top of the third, and two runs in the top of the fifth inning (0-10)

Game 1:  Game 2:
  • Hailey McAdoo was 1-3 at the plate.
  • Junior transfer Emily Allphin (New Richmond, Ohio/Milford) went 1-2 at the plate with a double.

Game 1:
  • Graduate student Annika Gels (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three earned runs off nine hits and struck out six.
Game 2:
  • First year Kylie Ropp (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Kenton Ridge) pitched 3.0 innings, allowing eight runs with six earned off 10 hits and struckout two.
  • First year Olivia Dumm (Williamsport, Ohio/Westfall) pitched 2.0 innings, allowing two earned runs off four hits and struck out three.

The Saints return to action tomorrow (March 30) against Tiffin in a double header beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET at Thoms More Softball Stadium.
