(CEDARVILLE, OH)-Thomas More University's baseball team split with Cedarville in a doubleheader on Tuesday (March, 26th) afternoon. The Saints took game 1 by a score of 10 to 6, before dropping game 2 by a score of 6 to 2. Thomas More moves to an overall record of 10-14 on the season and 3-7 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play.
Game 1: Thomas More 10-6
- Senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) got the Saints started in the first inning with an RBI single to make it 1-0.
- Later in the inning graduate student Derek Atwood (Burlington, KY / Conner) hit a sacrifice fly to bring in the second Saint run of the inning (2-0).
- Cedarville took the lead in the 3rd by pushing across five runs (2-5).
- Atwood would hit a 2 RBI double in the 5th to make it a one run game.
- Also in the fifth inning, junior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) hit a 3 RBI double to retake the lead for the Saints (7-5).
- Junior Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley) capped off the big inning by adding another run with an RBI single (8-5).
- Cedarville scored on run in the 8th to make it 8 to 6.
- Ben Duncan put down a sac bunt in the 9th and reached on an error. Two runs came around to score on the play. (10-6).
Game 2: Cedarville 6-2 (7 innings)
- Cedarville plated a run in the first inning to take a lead.
- In the 2nd inning, junior Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, OH / St. Xavier) and Ben Duncan each walked with the bases loaded to bring in runs for the Saints and take a lead (2-1)
- Cedarville would retake the lead with 2 runs in the third.
- Cadarville would add three more runs in the 4th inning.
Game 1:
- AJ Enginger went 2-5 at the plate with 3 RBIs, a double and 2 runs scored.
- Ben Duncan went 2-5 with a RBI and a sacrifice.
- Derek Atwood went 2-4 at the plate with a double, 3 RBIs, and a sacrifice.
Game 2:
Game 1:
- First year Ethan Stone (Hamilton, OH / Hamilton) got the start for the Saints. He pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 5 earned runs on six hits and struck out three.
- Sophomore Ian Bierbaum (Cincinnati, OH / LaSalle) came on in relief and pitched 3.0 innings of scoreless baseball. He picked up the win as he only allowed two hits and struck out 2.
- First year Joe Stone (Waynesville, OH / Waynesville) came in and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing only 1 run and struck out 1. He picked up the save.
Game 2:
- Sophomore Tony Spangler (Springboro, OH / Springboro) got the start and pitched 3.2 innings. He allowed 4 earned runs on 4 hits and struck out 3.
- Sophomore Cody Watkins (Cincinnati, OH / Lakota East) pitched 2.1 innings and did not allow a run or hit. He struck out one.

The Saints return on Friday (March 29) when they host Ohio Dominican for a weekend series. That game is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
