Wells Scores First Career Hat Trick as Saints Fall to Lincoln Memorial

(HARROGATE, TN.) – The Thomas More University women's lacrosse played their first NCAA Division II game in program history on Friday (Feb.9) afternoon against Lincoln Memorial. Thomas More fell by a score of 24 to 10. First year Anna Wells (West Chester, OH / Lakota West) scored the first Division II goal in program history and recorded her first career hat trick in the game.

  • Lincoln Memorial opened the game with five straight goals to take an early lead. (0-5)
  • Anna Wells put the Saints on the scoreboard with her first career goal with 5:16 to go in the quarter. (1-5)
  • Sophomore Meg Pierani (Bright, IN / Mercy McAuley) scored her first goal of the season, followed by another goal by Wells to make it a two goal game. (3-5)
  • Lincoln Memorial scored three more goals to extend their lead back to five. (3-8)
  • First year Alexis Denman (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) scored her first career goal with 10:54 to go in the opening half. (4-8)
  • Senior Mckenzie Mobley (Harrison, OH / Harrison) found the back of the net a few minutes later to make it a three goal game. (5-8)
  • Anna Wells picked up her third goal of the half with 4:10 to go to bring the Saints within two. (6-8)
  • First year Alex Nunn (Loveland, OH / Loveland) scored her first career goal to make it a one goal game. (7-8)
  • Alexis Denman would tie it up with her second goal of the contest. (8-8)
  • With just over two minutes to go in the half, senior Madi Carle (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) scored her first goal of the season to put the Saints out in front at halftime. (9-8)
  • Lincoln Memorial socred 15 straight goals to open the second half. (9-23)
  • With 4:30 to go in the game Mckenzie Mobley scored her second goal of the game. (10-23)
  • Lincoln Memorial would go on to win 24 to 10.
 
  • Anna Wells led the Saints with 3 goals on the afternoon. She also had 3 draw controls, 2 ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • Junior Eva Kinwel (Arnhem, Netherlands / Beekdal Lyceum) led the saints in ground balls with 3 in the game.
  • Six different Saints scored in the contest.

 

The Saints will return to action on Friday (Feb 16) when they host Davenport at Republic Bank Field. That match is set to start at 5:00 PM.
