Baseball Defeats WV Wesleyan in Game One

(FLORENCE, KY)-Thomas More University's baseball team defeated WV Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon (Feb 24), 13-6. The Saints overall record improves to 2-3.

How they scored
  • Sophomore Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) singled through the middle on the left side to score senior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) in the bottom of the first inning (1-0).
  • In the top of the third inning, WV Wesleyan would score one run to tie the game up at 1-1.
  • First year Sam Bond (St. Leon, Ind./East Central) doubled down the left field line in the bottom of the third to send in Jeremy Ward and sophomore Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) to help the Saints regain the lead 3-1. First year Ty Cunningham (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) doubled to left center and score Sam Bond to make it a 4-1 game.
  • WV Wesleyan would score two runs in the top of the fourth inning (4-3).

  • Junior AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) singled to centerfield in the bottom of the eighth to send in first year Matt Resing (Independence, Ky./St. Henry) and Sam Bond (12-6). Gavin Pearson would single up the middle for the Saints final run of the game by Ben Duncan (13-6).
