Women's Basketball Pick up Conference Win Over Ursuline

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team defeated Ursuline on Saturday afternoon (Feb 10), 59-48. The Saints overall records improves to 15-8 and 11-5 in conference.

First Half
  • Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a layup to start the Saints 8-0 run in the first quarter with 9:18 on the clock (2-0).
  • With 4:09 on the clock, senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) drove to the rim for a layup to close out the Saints 13-0 run over the Arrows (17-4).
  • First year Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) made a layup with 2:20 to play in the first quarter for the Saints final basket (19-6).
  • The Saints would lead 19-11 going into the second quarter.
  • First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern Brown) would make the Saints first basket of the quarter with 9:08 to play in the half (21-13).
  • Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) drove to the basket for a layup to extend the Saints lead to 24-16 with 6:33 on the clock.
  • Rylee Leonard made the Saints final basket of the half with a layup with 46 seconds on the clock (30-19).
  • The Saints would lead 30-22 going into the locker room at the half.
  • Ryle Turner would lead the team with eight points and four rebounds in the first half and had one assist.

  • Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) kicked things off in the second half by draining a 3-point basket to make it a 33-22 game with 9:24 left in the quarter.
  • Maggie Jones would knock in a 3-point shot with 5:30 to play in the quarter to give the Saints a 12 point lead (40-28).
  • Alex Smith would score a layup on a fast break with 37 seconds left in the third quarter for the Saints final basket of the third quarter (46-38).
  • With 8:56 to play in the game, Alex Smith would make a free throw for the first point of the fourth quarter for the Saints (47-42).
  • Morgan Hunt would score a layup in the paint with 6:07 on the clock to put the Saints up 53-44.
  • Alex Smith hit a jump shot to secure the Saints win over the Arrows with 27 seconds to play (59-47).
  • The Saints would defeat the Arrows 59-48.
