(INDIANAPOLIS, IN) – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference announced their 2024 football All-Conference honors this afternoon and the Saints had five players represented. Junior
Mike Kirch (Cincinnati, OH / Elder), and senior
Elgin Phillips (Fairfield, OH / Fairfield) both earned First Team All-Conference honors. Graduate student
Tanner Lawrence (Melbourne, KY / Campbell County), and junior
Cam Weil (Mt. Orab, OH / Western Brown) earned Second Team All-Conference Honors. Junior kicker
Luke Iden (Taylor Mill, KY / Scott) earned the Elite 26 Award which is an academic award given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
This is the fourth time Phillips has earned All-Conference honors (2022 and 2021 Mid South Conference, and 2023 and 2024 in G-MAC) and the second time
Mike Kirch has earned All-Conference honors in the G-MAC after getting Second Team honors a year ago. This marks the first time that Weil, and Lawrence have earned All-Conference honors.
Phillips led the G-MAC in average yards per punt at 45.3. He recorded twelve 50+ yard punts, and had 15 punts downed inside the 20 yard line. His long on the season was a 71 yard punt and he recorded over 1994 yards on 44 punts.
Kirch finished the season with a team high 4 touchdown receptions. He posted 372 yards on the season out of the tight end position. He brought in 37 receptions which was second most on the team and had an average of 10.05 yards per catch.
Tanner Lawrence tied for the team lead in sacks on the season with 5.0 for a total loss of 25 yards. He also recorded 10.5 tackles for loss. He tallied 20 solo tackles, and 28 assisted tackles along with 2 pass break-ups and 3 quarterback hurries.
Cam Weil started in all 11 games for the Saints. He was a key piece to a strong Saint offensive line unit that helped the Saints rushing attack score 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Luke Iden is the second Saint in school history to earn the Elite 26 Award. The award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete at the conference championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 26 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating from a conference championship-qualifying program for each of the Great Midwest's 26 conference championship events.
The Saints will be back in action next fall for their third season as member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
