Women's Basketball Falls to #3 Grand Valley State in Home Opener

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University's women's basketball team fell to #3 Grand Valley State, 71-34. The Saints overall record falls to 0-3.

First Half    
  • First year Anna Drakeford (Harrodsburg, KY / Mercer County) drove to the rim to make the Saints first basket of the game with 8:45 on the clock (2-4).
  • With 1:05 to play in the first quarter, first year Amara Jackson (Huntington, WV/Huntington) scored her first collegiate points with a layup and one to make it a 8-19 game.
  • The Saints trailed 8-21 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Junior Alaina Keeney (Wheelersburg, OH/Wheelersburg) drained a 3-point basket tio kick the scoring off for the Saints in the second quarter with 6:03 on the clock (11-29).
  • First year Kendall Sterling (Seymour, IN / Seymour) made a layup to end the first half with the Saints trailing 17-39 heading into the locker room.
  • Anna Drakeford led the Saints with four points and had two rebounds.
  • Alaina Keeney recorded six rebounds to lead the Saints in the first half and three points.
  • Sophomore Laney Baker (West Harrison, OH / East Central) had two assists to lead the team and one rebound.
  • The Saints were 28% (7-25) from the field and 40% (2-5) from the free throw line in the first half.
Second Half
  • Sophomore Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, OH / Tri-Village) made a second chance layup with 5:25 to play in the third quarter for the Saints first basket of the half (19-43).
  • Anna Drakeford hit a jump shot to end the third quarter to make it a 23-53 game going into the final quarter.
  • Morgan Hunt drove to the rim for a layup with 7:40 to play in the game to kick of the Saints scoring in the fourth quarter (25-60).
  • Junior transfer Sereniti Webb (Covington, KY / Simon Kenton) made one free throw for the final point of the game with 1:06 on the clock.
  • The Saints would fall 71-34 to the Lakers.
  • Anna Drakeford led the team in the second half with five points and one assist and had two rebounds.
  • Morgan Hunt led the Saints with three rebounds and had four points.
  • Laney Baker also led with three rebounds and had two points.
