Women's Basketball Defeats Findlay on the Road

Box Score (FINDLAY, Ohio)-Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated Findlay on Thursday evening (Jan 11), 66-60. The Saints overall record improves to 10-5 and 6-2 in conference.

• Senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup with 7:26 on the clock to get things started for the Saints (2-2).
• With 4:26 to play in the first quarter, senior Mattison Vickers (Covington, Ky./Simon Kenton) drained a 3-point basket to put the Saints ahead 5-4.
• Junior Callie Hunt (Trenton, Ohio/Edgewood) made a 3-pointer to close out the scoring in the first quarter and give the Saints the 13-11 lead.
• Senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) knocked in a 3-point basket with 9:39 to play in the half (16-11).
• First year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village Local Schools) drove to the rim for a layup with 4:21 on the clock (24-18).
• Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) hit a pull up to end the half and give the Saints a 35-23 lead going into the locker room at the half.
• Mattison Vickers led the team with eight points and four rebounds in the first half.
• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) tallied eight points and two assists to lead the team and had two rebounds.
• First year Desiree Tandy (Danvile, Ky./Danville) also led the team with four rebounds.
• Senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) led the Saints with two assists in the first half.
• The Saints were 40.6% (13-32) from the field, 50% (6-12) from the 3-point line, and 50% (3-6) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kelly Brenner starting things off for the Saints in the second half by draining a 3-point shot to extend the team's lead to 38-26 with 9:06 on the clock.
• Alex Smith made a driving layup with 4:26 on the clock to make it a 44-33 game.
• Rylee Turner would make the final basket of the third quarter with 2:36 to play to give the Saints a 47-38 lead going into the final quarter.
• Mattison Vickers knocked in a free throw to get the Saints on the board in the fourth quarter with 9:49 on the clock (48-38).
• With 5:13 to play, Rachel Martin made a layup to make in a 10 point game (60-50).
• Alex Smith and Rachel Martin would each make one free throw each to secure the Saints 66-60 win over the Oilers.
• Alex Smith led the team in the second half with 11 points and five rebounds.
• Rachel Martin followed with eight points and one assist.
• The Saints were 45.8% (11-24) from the field, 25% (2-8) from the 3-point line, and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line in the second half.
