(BIG RAPIDS, Mich.) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team lost their final two matches of the Ferris State Invitational on Saturday, dropping their morning match to Adelphi University, 3-0, and their afternoon match to Grand Valley State University, 3-0.
Match 1: Adelphi defeats Thomas More, 3-0.
- The Saints took a 2-0 lead in set one, but a 9-0 Panthers run helped them pull away.
- Freshmen Ceci Kamer (Louisville, KY / Holy Cross) and Rylee Hood (Independence, KY / Holy Cross) both had a pair of kills in the set.
- The second set was tied at 8-8 before a 5-1 Adelphi flurry gave them a 13-10 lead in their eventual set win.
- Kamer had five kills in the second set while Hood notched three.
- Sophomore Brenna Young (Spring Hill, TN / South Oldham) and Hood both had four kills in the final set.
- The Panthers won by set scores of 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14.
Match 2: Grand Valley State defeats Thomas More, 3-0.
- The Lakers won by set scores of 25-17, 25-11, and 25-10.
Match 1:
- Rylee Hood had nine kills followed by Ceci Kamer with seven.
- Junior Sam McClanahan (Georgetown, KY / Scott County) dished out 21 assists.
- Junior Asia Ferrando (Masone, Italy / Barletti Ovada) recorded 14 digs, while Ruthie Neu (Greenwood, IN / Roncalli) joined her in double-digits with 10.
Match 2:
- Sophomore Emily Acito (Cincinnati, OH / Mercy McAuley) led the team with four kills.
- Freshman Avery Brieske (Oak Creek, WI / Oak Creek) had six assists in the match.
- Ferrando recorded 11 digs.
Thomas More will play in the UIndy Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana next Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m. against G-MAC foe Northwood University in a non-conference match before playing McKendree University at 3:00 p.m. They will follow that up with two more matches on Saturday, September 9th.
