Saints Lose To Huntington In Midweek Battle

(HUNTINGTON, Ind.) – The Thomas More University baseball team dropped their final regular season non-conference game of the season Tuesday evening at Huntington University, 7-4. The Saints are now 27-17 overall this season.

How they scored
  • The Saints got on the board first with a Brennan Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) single to left center field that brought in Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner).
  • Their lead grew to 2-0 in the top of the fourth off an AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) triple to left center, scoring Brennan Martin, who singled to start the inning.
  • The Foresters tied it in the bottom of the fourth at 2-2.
  • Brennan Martin would pick up his second RBI of the game in the fifth on a groundout to retake the lead 3-2.
  • The Foresters took the lead for good with a three-run bottom of the fifth that pushed it to 5-4.
  • The Saints final run would come in the seventh on a Jacob Caruso (Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown) single to right center.

  • Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton), Brennan Martin, Ben Duncan (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Bradley), and Caruso all had two hits in the game.
  • Brennan Martin led the team with two RBI.
  • Atwood led the Saints with two runs scored.
  • Enginger and Duncan both worked a pair of walks in the game.
  • Atwood and Duncan each had a stolen base.
  • Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper) had one hit in the game and extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

  • Jackson Grimmelsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) started the game, giving up four runs over four innings, while striking out two hitters.
