Men's Volleyball Defeated By Lawrence Tech Saturday Afternoon

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-23) Saturday afternoon to the Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils. The Saints fall to 9-6 overall this season.

 
  • The Saints found themselves trailing by just one at 14-13 in the first set.
  • The Blue Devils then produced a 7-2 rally that gave them momentum and a 21-15 lead.
  • Thomas More wouldn't recover and would trail 1-0.
  • The Saints fell behind 13-9 in the second set, but a 5-1 run tied the set at 14-14.
  • Ben Albers (Delhi, Ohio/Elder) had two kills during the run.
  • A 7-3 Lawrence Tech run put them up 21-17, as they would eventually take the second set.
  • Thomas More trailed 12-6 in the final set.
  • A 7-1 flurry after they trailed 13-8 put them up 15-14.
  • Two Dominic Rossi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) were key along with Blue Devil errors.
  • The team would trade points and eventually be tied at 21-21.
  • A 3-0 run put Lawrence Tech up 24-21 and the Saints would never recover to drop the set 25-23 and the match 3-0.

 
  • Rossi led the Saints with eight kills over two sets of play.
  • Conner Young (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) had 13 assists and Eli Chambers (Eagle Rock, Calif./Eagle Rock/Santa Monica College) had 11.
  • Jonathan Litzler (Edgewood, Ky./St. Henry) once again tied a season-high with 14 digs, after posting the same total on Thursday night at Campbellsville University.
  • Caleb Lipscomb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills/St. Francis Brooklyn College) had a season-high six block solos in the match. This is his fifth match this season with five or more total blocks.
  • Through just 15 matches, Lipscomb is tied for second in program history with 55 total blocks in a season, trailing just teammate Jacob Wehrman (Milford, Ohio/Milford), who had 60 total blocks last season.
 
 

The Saints travel to NCAA Division II foe Edward Waters University Monday night for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Tigers. This will be the first ever meeting between these two teams.
