Baseball Pulls off 13-inning Game to Defeat Miami-Hamilton

(HAMILTON, Ohio)-Thomas More University's baseball team defeated Miami-Hamilton on Wednesday (March 22), 6-5, in 13-innings. The Saints overall record improves to 17-11.

How they scored
  • Junior Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Cooper) singled in the top of the third inning to send in sophomore Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) to put the Saints on the board 1-0. Graduate Student Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) stepped up the plate and doubled to score Gavin Pearson to make it a 2-0 game. Senior Derek Atwood (Burlington, Ky./Conner ) would follow and hit a double to score Bailey Martin and extend the Saints lead to 3-0.
  • Miami Hamilton scored one run in the bottom of the third and two runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up to 3-3.
  • Sophomore AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) scored in the top of the sixth innings from a hit ball by Gavin Vogelgesang to push the Saints ahead once again (4-3).
  • In the top of the ninth inning, Gavin Vogelgesang would get walked in after batter Derek Atwood was hit by the pitch to put the Saints up 5-3.
  • Miami-Hamilton scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game back up again at 5-5.
  • Derek Atwood would single in the top of the 13th to send in Gavin Vogelgesang for the winning and help the Saints capture the 6-5 win.
