(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The Thomas More University men's volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-15) to the No. 7 ranked Georgetown College Tigers Tuesday night in the Connor Convocation Center. The Saints are now 11-10 overall this season and drop to 5-4 in the Mid-South Conference.
- The Tigers took a 9-4 lead in the first set.
- A 6-3 run by the Saints cut the lead to three to 12-10.
- Jacob Wehrman (Milford, Ohio/Milford) had two kills during this rally.
- Thomas More would eventually keep the rally going and tie the set at 14-14.
- Later on, the Tigers would hold a 20-18 lead.
- The Tigers would end the set on a 5-0 push to win and go ahead 1-0.
- Thomas More jumped out to a 10-6 lead in the second set.
- Caleb Lipscomb (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills/St. Francis Brooklyn College) had two kills to help the Saints earn this advantage.
- A 6-0 Tigers rally gave them the 12-10 lead that was followed by three straight Saints points.
- The teams would continue to trade runs until the score was tied at 19-19.
- Just like the first set, Georgetown ended the set on a big run, not allowing another Thomas More point en route to their 2-0 match lead.
- The Tigers dominated the final set, leading 17-7 and never looking back in a 25-15 win for the sweep.
- Ben Albers (Delhi, Ohio/Elder) led the Saints with six kills.
- Eli Chambers (Eagle Rock, Calif./Eagle Rock/Santa Monica College) led the team with 13 assists.
- Jonathan Litzler (Edgewood, Ky./St. Henry) led with seven digs.
- Lipscomb had three solo blocks while Mason Collver (Zionsville, Ind./Zionsville) and Will Busken (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) both had two.
- Lipscomb had four kills on seven swings, while Wehrman had three kills on eight swings.
The Saints next match is their Senior Day on Thursday night at home against the University of Rio Grande at 7:00 p.m. They swept the Red Storm in Rio Grande last month in their first match.
