Game Recap: Baseball |

Saints Win One Of Two Against Freed-Hardeman To Win Series

(HENDERSON, Tenn.) – The Thomas More University baseball team split their doubleheader with the Freed-Hardeman University Lions Saturday, losing game one 7-4 and winning game two 4-2. Game two was called in the sixth inning due to lightning. Thomas More is 12-10 overall and 5-4 in the Mid-South Conference.

 How they scored

  • The Saints struck first in game one on a Gavin Vogelgesang (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) RBI groundout to go ahead 1-0 in the top of the third inning.
  • The Lions would score five runs in the bottom of the fourth to snatch a 5-1 lead.
  • The Saints had three hits and scored two runs in the top of the fifth, with an RBI double down the right field line coming from Vogelgesang and a wild pitch scoring Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper).
  • A two-run homerun to left field gave the Lions a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth.
