Baseball Drops Final Game in Johnson City

(JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.)-Thomas Morse University baseball team fell to Rio Grande on Sunday afternoon (February 5), 11-3. The Saints overall record fell to 1-2.

How they scored
  • Rio Grande scored two runs in the top of the first inning (0-2).
  • The Storm would scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning to give them a 0-6 lead.
  • First year Jeremy Ward (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) doubled to left center in the bottom of the fifth inning to send in senior Cooper Daniels (Franklin, Ohio/Franklin) to out the Saints on the board (1-6). Graduate student Bailey Martin (Burlington, Ky./Simon Kenton) would then double to center field to score Jeremy Ward to make it a 2-6 game. Sophomore AJ Enginger (Hamilton, Ohio/Badin) singled to right center to put the Saints within three in the bottom of the fifth inning (3-6).
  • Rio Grande scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning (3-11).
  • Bailey Martin went 2-5 at the plate with one double and an RBI.
  • Sophomore Tucker Gray (Williamstown, Ky./Williamstown) was 1-1 at the plate.
  • First year Gunner Kalkhoff (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) was 1-1.
