(BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss.) – The Thomas More University baseball team dropped a pair of close games to the Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers Saturday afternoon at the BMC Sportsplex, 1-0 and 5-4. The Saints are now 6-5 overall.
Game 1:
- The lone run of game number one came on a Saints error that allowed the game-winning run to score from second in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Game 2:
- The second game brought more offense.
- A Reiley Tate triple to center field brought in two Toppers in the bottom of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- The Saints would grab one back on a fielder's choice RBI from Noah Weingartner (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) in the fourth to make it 2-1.
- Bailey Martin (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) hit his second homerun of the season in the fifth, a three-run blast that gave Thomas More a 4-2 lead.
- Unfortunately for the Saints, they ran into some trouble in the bottom of the fifth.
- A bases-loaded walk followed by a two-out passed ball tied the game at 4-4.
- The game-winning run came in for the Toppers in the bottom of the sixth off a Hayden Arant single to right field, before they held on for the 5-4 victory.

- Ward went 2-3 for the Saints.
- Vogelgesang, Gavin Pearson (Burlington, Ky./Randall K. Cooper), Bailey Martin, and Weingartner all had one hit for Thomas More.
Game 1:
- Junior Landen Scott (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) threw a gem for Thomas More.
- He struck out six over 6.2 innings, allowing just one unearned run.
Game 2:
- Senior Hunter Nantz (London, Ky./North Laurel) started the game for the Saints.
- He threw 4 innings, striking out five and allowing two runs, one earned.
- Jackson Grimmelsman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Elder) threw 0.1 innings, Austin Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) threw 0.2, and Justin Bierbaum (Bridgetown, Ohio/La Salle) threw 1 inning for Thomas More.
- Grimmelsman gave up two runs, Dennis didn't give up any, and Bierbaum allowed one run.
Thomas More will be in Mid-South Conference action the next time they take the field, as they travel to Campbellsville University to take on the Tigers for a three-game series, beginning with one on Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. They swept the Tigers in two games last season.
