Women's Basketball Secures Conference Road Win Over Walsh

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio)-Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated Walsh on Thursday evening (Dec 14), 66-52. The Saints overall record improves to 5-4 and 3-2 in conference.

First Half
  • Senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) drained a 3-point shot to open up the scoring for the Saints with 9:06 on the clock to give the team a 3-2 lead.
  • With 3:33 to play in the first quarter, senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup to make it a 15-12 game.
  • First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, Ohio/ Eastern Brown) hit a 3-point basket for the Saints final basket of the quarter with nine seconds to play to give the Saints a 22-20 lead at the end of the quarter.
  • Senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) made a jumper for the first basket of the quarter (24-20).
  • Kelly Brenner hit a floating jump shot with 6:03 to play in the half to make it 31-23.
  • Rylee Leonard knocked in one free throw to end scoring for the Saints in the first with 1:13 to play in the half to give the team a 39-26 lead going into the locker room.
