Women's Basketball Secures Conference Road Win Over Walsh

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio)-Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated Walsh on Thursday evening (Dec 14), 66-52. The Saints overall record improves to 5-4 and 3-2 in conference.

• Senior Kelly Brenner (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) drained a 3-point shot to open up the scoring for the Saints with 9:06 on the clock to give the team a 3-2 lead.
• With 3:33 to play in the first quarter, senior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a layup to make it a 15-12 game.
• First year Rylee Leonard (Sardinia, Ohio/ Eastern Brown) hit a 3-point basket for the Saints final basket of the quarter with nine seconds to play to give the Saints a 22-20 lead at the end of the quarter.
• Senior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) made a jumper for the first basket of the quarter (24-20).
• Kelly Brenner hit a floating jump shot with 6:03 to play in the half to make it 31-23.
• Rylee Leonard knocked in one free throw to end scoring for the Saints in the first with 1:13 to play in the half to give the team a 39-26 lead going into the locker room.
• Kelly Brenner led the team with 13 points and had two rebounds in the first half.
• Rylee Leonard followed with 13 points and two rebounds.
• The Saints were 44.8% (13-29) from the field, 50% (6-12) from the 3-point line, and 70% (7-10) from the free throw line in the first half.

• Kelly Brenner made a 3-point shot basket to start things off for the Saints in the second with 7:51 on the clock (42-29).
• First year Desiree Tandy (Danville, Ky./Danville) hit a jumper with 2:36 to play in the third quarter to extend the Saints lead to 52-31.
• The Saints would lead 52-37 going into the final quarter.
• With 9:32 to play, first year Morgan Hunt (Hollansburg, Ohio/Tri-Village Local Schools) drove to the rim for a layup to put the Saints up 54-27.
• Kelly Brenner put in a 3-point basket in with 4:29 to play to put the team up by 10 (60-50).
• Senior Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) made a jumper for the Saints final basket with 1:44 to play to secure the saints 66-52 win.
• Kelly Brenner led the team with 11 points and had one rebound.
• Sophomore Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the Saints with six rebounds in the second half.
• Maggie Jones led the way with three assists.
• The Saints were 41.7% (10-24) from the field, 46.2% (6-13) from the 3-point line, and 50% (1-2) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Kelly Brenner led the Saints with 24 points and had three rebounds.
• Rylle Turner led the team defensively with nine rebounds and had two points and two assists.
• Rylee Leonard led with four assists and had 11 points and one rebound.
• The Saints were 43.4% (25-53) from the field, 48% (12-25) from the 3-point line, and 66.7% (8-12) from the free throw line.

The Saints return to action tomorrow (Dec 15) against Saginaw Valley State at 3:00 pm ET in the Connor Convocation Center.
