(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY)- The #3 Seed Thomas More University men's soccer team defeated the #6 Seed Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday (November, 4th) afternoon by a score of 5 to 1. The Saints improve their overall record to 10-7-2 and punch their ticket into the semifinal round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship.
- First year Balthasar Zimmerman (Munich, Germany / Theodolinden) got the Saints started with a goal off assists from denior Ben Oliver (Eckington, England / Hartpury) and sophomore Julen van Egmond (Amsterdam, Netherlands / St. Nicolaaslyceum).
- Zimmerman struck again 2 minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0 off assists from sophomore Matthaus Buechner (Goshen, OH / Goshen) and senior Charlie Allan (Cardiff, Wales / Cardiff).
- Ben Oliver followed in the 20th minute with a goal off an assist from Zimmerman to make it 3-0.
- Graduate student Ali Kazim Nakhid (Beirut, Lebanon / City International) added to the Thomas More lead in the second half with a goal off assists from Zimmerman and senior Ryan Albrinck (Harrison, OH / La Salle).
- Matthaus Buechner extended the Saint lead to 5 with a goal in the 65th minute off assists from Charlie Allan and Ben Oliver.
- Kentucky Wesleyan scored in the 82nd minute to make it 5 to 1.
The Saints return to action next Thursday (November, 9th) when they travel to Tiffin, OH to compete in the semifinal round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Championship. They will face off against the #2 Seed Lake Erie Storm. That game is currently set to begin at 1:30 PM ET.
