Men's Basketball Win Home Opener in Day One of the Connor Classic

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-Thomas More University men's basketball team defeated UC Clermont in day one of the Connor Classic on Friday evening (Nov 17), 84-66. The Saints overall record improves to 2-1.

• Junior Kyle Ross (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) drove to the rim for a layup to start things off for the Saints with 19:39 on the clock (2-0).
• With 13:31 to play in the first half, sophomore Ryan Paris (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) drained his first of five 3-point baskets he made in the first half to make it a 15-12 game.
• Junior Wyatt Vieth (Hebron, Ky./St. Henry) hit a 3-point jump shot with 7:09 to play in the first half to extend the lead to 33-23.
• Redshirt sophomore Cody Teten (Florence, Ky./St. Henry) made two free throws to end the scoring for the first half with 33 seconds left to give the Saints a 46-32 lead going into the locker room at the half.
• Ryan Paris led the team with 15 points and four rebounds.
• Wyatt Vieth followed with 11 points and one rebound.
• Junior Jacob Jones (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) led the team with five assists in the first half.
• The Saints were 47.1% (16-34) from the field, 52.4% (11-21) from the 3-point line, and 42.9% (3-7) from the free throw line in the first half. 

• Kyle Ross would make two free throws to kick of the scoring for the Saints in the second half with 19:38 on the clock (47-32).
• Jacob Jones drove to the rim for a layup to extend the lead to 19 with 14:58 to play (60-41).
• With 3:53 to play, senior Jalen Scott (Hebron, Ky./Conner) made a layup to put the Saints up 77-59.
• First year Cam McClain (Louisville, Ky./Louisville Trinity) knocked in two free throws to secure the Saints 84-66 win over UC Clermont. 
• Jacob Jones led the team in the second half with 12 points and had one rebound and one assist.
• Kyle Ross had six rebounds and two assists in the second half to lead the Saints and had seven points.
• The Saints were 40.64% (13-32) from the field, 15.38% (2-13) from the 3-point line, and 76.92% (10-13) from the free throw line in the first half. 

• Ryan Paris led the Saints with 18 points and had six rebounds and one assist.
• Jacob Jones led the team with six assists and had 12 points and two rebounds.
• Kyle Ross led defensively with eight rebounds and had 11 points and three assists.
• The Saints were 43.9% (29-66) from the field, 38.2% (13-34) from the 3-point line, and 65% (13-20) from the free throw line. 

The Saints return to action tomorrow afternoon (Nov 18) at 3:00 pm ET against Kent State-Tuscarawas in day two of the Connor Classic in the Connor Convocation Center.
