(Mount Vernon, OH) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team split their matches Saturday afternoon on the road at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. They fell to the No. 25 Cougars 3-1 in match one before sweeping their final match 3-0 over West Virginia Tech.
Match One – No. 25 Mount Vernon Nazarene Defeats Thomas More, 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-13, 25-23)
The Saints found themselves trailing in set one 22-19 before the Cougars pushed past them for the set win 25-21 and took a 1-0 match lead. The Saints held a 9-3 lead in set two, after three
Emily Acito kills led the way. The teams would later be all square at 19-19 before the Saints pulled away. A pair of
Jess Gearries kills helped lead to the set win and a 1-1 tie in the match.
Mount Vernon Nazarene dominated the third set to go ahead 2-1 in the match. Thomas More found themselves with a 22-21 lead in the final set. However, the Saints only mustered one more point as the Cougars snatched the set 25-23 and the match 3-1.

Match Two – Thomas More Defeats West Virginia Tech, 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-15)
Thomas More played extremely well against the Golden Bears in match number two, as West Virginia Tech never lead by more than three in a single set as the match was dominated by the Saints. They hit over .400 in the first two sets (.464 & .423), and never looked back in their victory.

- Gearries ended her solid day with another 11 kills (.471 hitting percentage), while Sydney Hilderbran had 10 (.412 hitting percentage).
- McClanahan had 39 assists.
- The team hit .402, their best hitting percentage of the season.

Thomas More begins Mid-South Conference play on Thursday night in the Connor Convocation Center at 7:00 p.m. against the Shawnee State Bears. The Saints beat Shawnee State twice last season, only losing one set over the two matches.
