Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 2 Women's Basketball Fall to Freed Hardeman

Crestview Hills, Ky. - The women's basketball program at Thomas More fell to the Freed Hardeman University Lions by a score of 54-47 in a Mid-South Conference showdown. With the loss the Saints drop to 22-3 on the year and 15-2 in MSC play. 

  • Senior Taylor Clos (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) started out the scoring for Thomas More with a three-pointer at the 7:37 mark to draw even at 3-3. 
  • Junior guard Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) converted an old fashion three-point play as she stole the ball and laid it in to give the Saints a 6-3 lead. 
  • Sophomore Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) capitalized on her free throws to end the first with a Thomas More 17-15 lead. 
  • In the second quarter junior forward Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) would start the scoring as she would grab the offensive board and put it back up for two for a 19-17 lead. 
  • Senior forward Kenzie Schwarber (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) would convert on a hook shot after an offensive rebound to retake the lead at 23-21. 
  • Junior Summer Secrist (Taylor Mill, Ky/Scott) closed the half out with a layup to give the Saints a 25-24 heading into the locker room. 
 
 
 
 

  • Barth started the scoring in the third with a layup to grow the lead to 27-24.
  • Secrist would extend the lead to six as she drove past her defender for two to make the score 31-25 with 4:40 to go in the third.
  • Schwarber would give Thomas More a four point lead heading into the fourth quarter with the score 37-33.
  • Schwarber extened the lead to six with a layup to give the Saints 39-33 lead.
  • Clos made a jump shot with 2:52 to go in the game to cut Freed's lead to 47-43.
  • Jones would score the final basket of the game for the Saints with a jumper to bring the final to 54-47 in favor of Freed Hardeman.

  • Secrist led the team in points with 10 and collected three rebounds.
  • Schwarber and Smith led the team in rebounds by collecting six each.
  • Graduate student Alexah Chrisman (Greendale, Ind./McAuley) had a game high four blocks with four rebounds.

Women's basketball will return to the Connor Convocation Center on Saturday, February 12 for their next contest where they will take on Bethel in a Mid-South Conference game at 2 p.m. ET
