(GEORGETOWN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University football team lost to Georgetown College (Ky.) Saturday afternoon on the road, 35-0.
After getting down 14-0 in the first quarter, the Saints had a great chance to score points. A drive that started at their own 39-yard line was aided by a 13-yard catch by
Freddie Johnson, a 20-yard rush by
Maleek Jarrett, and an 11-yard
Blaine Espinosa rush that put them at the Tigers one-yard line. Unfortunately, a goal-line stand kept them off the board.
They would drive the ball once more into Georgetown territory before heading to the half down 14-0. Thomas More drove the ball into Tigers territory on a few more occasions in the second half but couldn't get anything on the board in their loss.
- Tanner Lawrence led the defense with a sack and three solo tackles.
- Jackson Belk and Diante Lesperance both had a tackle for loss, while Lesperance added two pass breakups.
- Del Thomas led the game with 11 tackles (six solo, five assisted).
- Christian Rice also had two pass breakups and two solo tackles.
- The Saints blocked a field goal for the second straight game and the third time in their last four games.
- Espinosa threw for 108 yards and rushed for 25.
- Jarrett led the rushing attack with 43 yards.
- Alex Brown had three catches for 33 yards.
Thomas More falls to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the Mid-South Conference. They play their final game of the season next Saturday on senior day as they host the visiting University of the Cumberlands Patriots at Republic Bank Field at 1:30 p.m. They beat Cumberlands 26-9 last season at home.
