Men's Soccer Falls to Bethel in Double OT, 3-2

(McKENZIE, TN.)-Thomas More University men's soccer team falls in the Mid South Conference Quarterfinals to the number 2 seeded Bethel Wildcats, by a score of 3-2 in Double OT on Friday afternoon (November 4th). The Saints move to a season overall record of (10-6-2).

• Sophomore Nathan Ortiz (Orem, Utah) got the Saints off to a fast start by scoring in the 6th minute to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
• Bethel scored in the 49th minute after the half to even the score at 1 a piece.
• Bethel scored again in the 81st minute to take a 2-1 lead.
• In the 89th minute of the match sophomore Finn Battenstein (Ratingen, Germany Martin Luther King Gesamtschule) found the back of the net off an assist from redshirt junior Thomas Wolfe (Marysville, Ohio Marysville), sending the game to overtime at 2-2.
• Bethel broke the tie in the second overtime period in the 104th minute to go on and win the match 3-2.

• Finn Battenstein had a goal, and 2 shots on goal.
• Nathan Ortiz had a goal, and 2 shots on goal.
• Thomas Wolfe had an assist.
• First year Emilio Benmergui Rodriquez (Caracas, Venezuela / Cumbres School Valencia) tallied 4 saves while in the goal.

The Saints season comes to a close, and will be back on the pitch in fall 2023, the schedule is TBA.
