#1 Women's Basketball Come out of the Julie Costello Classic Undefeated

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)-#1 Thomas More University women's basketball team defeated Miami-Hamilton on Saturday afternoon (November 26), 74-48 in the Julie Costello Classic presented by Barley Corns. The Saints overall record improves to 8-0.

• First year Rylee Turner (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) scored the Saints first eight points of the game to start things off for team.
• Senior Zoie Barth (Fort Thomas, Ky./Highlands) drained a 3-point basket for the Saints final basket of the quarter with 2:31 on the clock, to make it a 13-5 game.
• Junior transfer Alex Smith (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mercy McAuley) started the second quarter off for the Saints with a 3-pointer to put the team up by eight with 9:44 to play in the first half.
• With 5:42 to play in the second half, senior Courtney Hurst (Burlington, Ky./Conner) knocked in a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 24-10.
• Alex Smith would make a layup for the Saints final basket of the half, to make it a 38-19 game going into the locker room at the half.
• Rylee Turner would lead the Saints in the first half with 12 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
• Courtney Hurst followed with 10 points and two rebounds and led the Saints with two assists.
• Zoie Barth also tallied two assists to lead the team in the second half and had 10 points and three rebounds.
• Junior Maggie Jones (Piner, Ky./Simon Kenton) recorded two assists to lead the team in assists. 
• The Saints were 37.5 (15-40) from the field, 28.6% (6-21) from the 3-point line, and 50% (1-2) from the free throw line in the first half. 

• Senior transfer Emily Simon (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) would sink two free throws for the Saints first points of the second half with 8:55 to play in the third quarter (40-21).
• Junior Rachel Martin (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day) made a layup with 6:10 on the clock to extend the Saints lead to 47-25.
• Alex Smith would make the final basket of the third quarter, driving to the rim for a layup with 1:00 to play (51-31).
• Senior transfer Sammi Whiteman (Covington, Ky./Covington) made a layup for the Saints first basket of the fourth quarter to make it a 53-31 game with 9:32 to play.
• Rachel Martin would drain a 3-point shot to extend the Saints lead to 72-44 with 2:07 to play. 
• With 1:33 to play, Rylee Turner would make the Saints final basket of the game with a layup to secure the team's win over.
• The Saints defeated Miami-Hamilton 74-48.
• Rachel Martin led the team with nine points in the second half and had one rebound.
• Emily Simon followed with eight points and led the team with three rebounds and two assists in the second half.
• Zoie Barth tallied three rebounds and two assists to lead the Saints.
• Courtney Hurst also had three rebounds to lead the team in the second half.
• The Saints were 44.% (13-29) from the field, 14.3% (2-14) from the 3-point line, and 100% (8-8) from the free throw line in the second half.

• Rylee Turner led the team with 16 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks and had one assist.
• Courtney Hurst had 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
• Emily Simon recorded 10 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
• Zoie Barth tallied nine points and six rebounds and had four assists to lead the team. 
• Alex Smith had 11 points, four rebounds, and one assist.
• The Saints were 40.6% (28-69) from the field, 22.9% (8-35) from the 3-point line, and 90.9% (10-11) from the free throw line. 
• Zoie Barth and Emily Simon were named to the All-Tournament Team for their outstanding performance this weekend in the Julie Costello Classic.

The Saints return to action on Thursday night (December 1) in the Connor Convocation Center against UT Southern at 5:30 pm ET for Mid-South Conference play.
