Men's Soccer Opens the Mid South Tournament with a 3-0 Victory

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, KY.)-Thomas More University men's soccer team defeats Freed Hardeman by a score of 3-0 to open the Mid South Conference Tournament. The Saints move to an overall record of 10-5-2. The Saints will go on to face Bethel in the quarterfinals. This marks the programs first Mid South Confernce Tournament victory in program history.

• Redshirt first year Matthaus Buechner (Goshen, Ohio / Goshen) got the scoring started with a goal in the 4th minute of the match off a pass from first year Julen van Egmond (Amsterdam, Netherlands / St. Nicolaaslyceum).
• Julen van Egmond then found the back of the net in the 8th minute off assists from sophomore Nathan Ortiz (Orem, Utah) and junior Matt Lodge (Northampton England / Northampton Town).
• Sophomore Blake Ivey (Independence, Ky. / Simon Kenton) got the the started with a goal off an assist by sophomore Flo Meyer (Mulheim, Germany / Luisenschule) in the 15th minute of the game.
• Nathan Ortiz scored in the 74th minute to make it 3-0 off assists from first year Saeed Pompey Charles (Lavantille, Trinidad and Tobago / Fatima College) and junior Ryan Albrink (Harrison, Ohio / LaSalle).

• Julen van Egmond had a goal, an assist and tallied two shots.
• Matthaus Buechner had a goal and tallied two shots.
• Nathan Ortiz had a goal, and an assist with three shots and two being on goal.
• Matt Lodge had an assist.
• First year Emilio Benmergui Rodriquez (Caracas, Venezuela / Cumbres School Valencia) had a save and completes the shutout.

The Saints move on in the Mid South Conference Tournament to face Bethel, time and date TBA.
