(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.)- The Thomas More University women's volleyball team dropped their first Mid-South Conference match of the season Saturday afternoon to the visiting Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders, 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-20)
Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 14-6 lead in the first set and continued to keep the Saints at bay throughout. A 9-5 run got the Saints back into it at 19-15, but four was as close as the Saints would get in the set, dropping it 25-20.
Thomas More found themselves down 24-17 in the second set before trying to make one final push. A 5-0 run led by three
Emily Acito kills cut the lead to 24-22 but the Blue Raiders put it away on the next play to take a 2-0 match lead.
Lindsey Wilson held a 16-9 lead in the final set before a 5-0 flurry from the Saints made it 16-14. This was as close as they would get in the 25-20 set loss and 3-0 match sweep.
- For the second straight match, Acito led or tied for the Saints lead in kills as she recorded eight against the Blue Raiders.
- Asia Ferrando recorded her second consecutive match with 22 digs. Ruthie Neu (14) and Kae Woelfel (10) also both contributed double-digit digs.
- Senior Sawyer Lorentz had five total blocks in the match (two solo, three assists).
- Sam McClanahan dished out 27 assists.
- Lorentz and Ally Albrinck were both honored before the game for Senior Day.
The Saints fall to 13-8 overall and 7-1 in the MSC. They return to action on Thursday in Crestview Hills against NCAA Division II opponent, the Central State University Marauders.
