(PIKEVILLE, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team swept the University of Pikeville Bears Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-14). This was Thomas More's 15th win of the season and eighth in the Mid-South Conference.
Thomas More fell behind 19-15 in set one and had to claw their way back. A pair of
Ally Albrinck kills fueled a 4-0 flurry to tie things at 19-19. The Bears would take a 23-20 lead and look to close things out. The Saints wouldn't go down though and off the strength of Bears errors, would use a 6-1 push to win the set 26-24.
The final two sets would be dominated by Thomas More, as they would win both with a 25-14 score. Albrinck would lead set two with five kills, while
Jess Gearries had four. Several different Saints had a pair of kills in the third set, as Thomas More won 3-0 in the match.
- Gearries led the match with 10 kills, her seventh match this season with double-digit kills.
- Kate Woelfel (14) and Delaney Needham (11) both had double-digit digs in the match. This is both's fourth match with double-digit digs this season.
- Sam McClanahan had 29 assists.
Thomas More travels to Georgetown College for their next match against the Tigers on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. They swept Georgetown in their first match this year on Sep. 20.
