(GEORGETOWN, Ky.) – The Thomas More University women's volleyball team dropped their match to Georgetown College on the road Thursday night, 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22, 15-9). The Saints now sit at 15-10 overall this season and 8-3 in the Mid-South Conference.
The first set was locked up at 17-17 before a quick 5-1 Saints push gave them a 22-18 advantage.
Ally Albrinck and
Matilde Giamberini both had a kill during the run. Thomas More would end up winning the set and going up 1-0 in the match.
Set two was tied at 7-7 before a 7-3 Tigers run gave them a 14-10 lead. However, the Saints responded with a 6-0 flurry to take the lead back as Georgetown committed a few errors. At 17-17, Georgetown used a key 3-0 run to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish, as they tied the match at 1-1.
The third set was tied 16-16, but two
Sawyer Lorentz kills and some Tiger errors gave the Saints a 21-16 lead. Georgetown would cut it back down to two but couldn't make the comeback and dropped the set.
After trailing by as many as six during the fourth set, the Saints clawed back to tie things at 22-22. However, that was all they would get in the 25-22 defeat to send it to a deciding fifth set.
Thomas More trailed 8-7 in the final set, but the Tigers used Saint mishaps in a 5-0 run to steal the momentum and the match as they would win the set 15-9 and the match 3-2.
