Saints Score Most Points Since 2015 in Rout of Tigers

Campbellsville, Ky. - The football program at Thomas More took down Campbellsville on Thursday night (September 30) by a score of 73-28. With the win the Saints improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in Mid-South Conference play.

  • Senior running back Monalo Caldwell (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain ) opened up the scoring with a three yard touchdown run, senior kicker Alexander Haley (Lebanon, Ohio / Lebanon) converted the extra point to make the score 7-0.
  • Junior full back Austin Bowling (Lawrenceburg, Ind. / Lawrenceburg) found the endzone off of a two yard pass from Rae'Von Vaden (Louisville, Ky. / Marion C. Moore), the score would be increased to 14-0 after Haley converted the extra point.
  • Junior quarterback Jay Volpenhein (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) saw his first action of the season and made good on it by finding junior wideout Roques Dowdy (Athens, Ga. / Oconee County) on a 64 yard touchdown pass, Haley would once again convert the extra point.

  • Senior wide receiver Charles Gaines Jr. (Elsmere, Ky. / Lloyd Memorial) scored a 16 yard touchdown via a pass from Volpenhein, growing the lead to 28-0 after a Haley extra point.
  • Campbellsville found the endzone for the first time as Chase Elmore would score from a yard out on a qb keeper, Devin Neally converted the extra point.
  • Senior tight end Mason Kramer (Alexandria, Ky. / Campbell County) found the end zone on a five yard pass from Vaden, extending Thomas More's lead to 35-7 going into the locker room.
  • Senior line backer Drew Bartolovich (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) intercepted a pass in the endzone to stop the Tigers from scoring with less than a minute remaining in the half.

  • Running back Chon'dre Cissell (Indianapolis, Ind. / Cathedral) found the endzone as the junior bulldozed his way in from four yards out, Haley would convert to make the score 42-7.
  • Junior line backer Del Thomas (Fairfield, Ohio/Fairfield) would scoop and score from 10 yards out, increasing the Saints lead to 49-7.
  • Haley would nail his 40 yard field goal attempt, growing the lead to 52-7.
  • Kel Hawkins returned a kick for 90 yards and a touchdown, cutting Thomas More's lead to 52-14.
  • Junior Maleek Jarrett (Hamilton, Ohio / Hamilton) was the fourth Saints back to find the endzone knocking it in from nine yards out, making the lead 59-14 Thomas More.

  • Junior Craig Wills Jr. (Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) found the endzone on a end around and Haley would make the extra point to increase the lead to 66-14.
  • Elmore would once again score with his feet for the Tigers and Neally converted the extra point, making the score 66-21.
  • Vaden would add another touchdown this time on his feet as the sophomore would sneak it in from a yard out to make the score 73-21 after a Haley extra point.
  • Campbellsville scored the final touchdown of the night as Elmore would find tight end Zac Cole for a seven yard touchdown, bringing the final to 73-28.

The football team will return home to Republic Bank Field to take on defending NAIA National Champion Lindsey Wilson on Saturday, October 9, at 7 p.m. ET.
