Rv Men's Basketball Runners-Up in Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship Game

(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.)- RV Thomas More men's basketball team become runners-up in Mid-South Conference Men's Tournament with a 70-54 loss to No.6 Shawnee State on Tuesday night (March 2).

  • The Saints started the first half slow with the Bears going on a 8-0 run. With 10:57 in the clock Thomas More was down 17-6, but the Saints then went on a 8-0 run to tie things up 17-17 with 6:36 to play on the clock off of a jumper from the paint from sophomore Reid Jolly (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County).
  • Thomas More fell behind again, 28-19, but rallied back and cut Shawnee State's lead down to three (28-25) with 1:01 to play in the first half off a 3-point shot made by senior Garren Bertsch (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) assisted by Redshirt Junior Ryan Batte (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills).
  • The Saints finished the half down five (30-25).
  • Batte led the Saints across the board in the first half with 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
  • Jolly followed with eight points, two rebounds, and one assist.
  • Senior guard Luke Rudy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) and sophomore center Noah Pack (Georgetown, Ohio/Georgetown) both had three rebounds.
  • The Saints were 39.93% (11-29) from the field.
  • They had 16 points from the paint over Shawnee's 12.

  • Jolly made a field-goal to start things off for the Saints cutting the Bear's lead to six (33-27).
  • With 7:03 to play Jolly swished back to 3-point shots to make it a 59-42 game the Bears.
  • The Saints fell to Shawnee State, 70-54.
  • Batte led the Saints with 14 points and had two rebounds in the second half.
  • Jolly followed with eight points and led the team with three rebounds.

  • Batte led the Saints across the board with 26 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
  • Jolly followed with 16 points and five rebounds and also had two assists.
  • The Saints were 37.5% (21-56) from the field and 33.33% (10-30) from the 3-point line.

  • The Saints have an automatic bid to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship and Thomas More will host the opening rounds on March 12 and 13 at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
  • The NAIA will announce the tournament field and pairings with a selection show on the Play NAIA facebook page on Thursday (March 4) at 7 p.m. Central/8 p.m. Eastern.
